Walmart Risk Manager to open WBN Conference in Denver

”WBN Speaker Series” to Feature Walmart’s VP-Risk Management David Stills

Continuing our extremely popular practice of kicking off each WBN Conference with a high profile speaker, the Vice President-Risk Management of the world’s largest retailer, largest private employer and second-largest public corporation will be the WBN Series Speaker opening our conference in Denver at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 23rd.

David Stills leads a team of risk management and risk finance professionals who are collectively responsible for Walmart’s Global Risk Management Division—including property, management liability, casualty and excess casualty, other global insurance lines, insurance claims impacting globally- relevant policies, and management of Walmart’s captive insurance company. [Additionally, David and his team oversee U.S.-based workers’ comp, general liability and auto liability claims, including management of a wholly owned Third-Party Administrator and vendor Third-Party Administrators.]

To appreciate the scope of these responsibilities, keep in mind that Walmart has over 2 million employees working in 11,000 stores in 27 countries, under 55 different business names. As of January 2014, international operations alone comprised 6,337 stores and 800,000 workers, with wholly owned operations in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, and the UK.

Kudos to Mark Willis for arranging what should be a most dynamic beginning to the Denver Conference, which also includes presentations by and opportunities to meet with executives of our insurance sponsors, the growing group of WBN Young Professionals, and your broker and benefits partners from around the world.

Hotel space in Denver is limited because of the RIMS Annual Conference that follows on the heels of ours, so it’s essential that you sign up now if you plan to attend. Details are at
